Mercenarily....

A lot of us has become mercenaries in so many ways....

Some people travel the world to find a better earning job even if the position is a demotion from their previous one.

Some people get married to someone even if they don't love them because they are scared of growing old alone.

And there are others like me...

I had one of "my" write ups published in the Filipino Expat Magazine. I have never submitted an article that was edited erroneously by an Editor. I had so many write ups and none of them were altered or edited in a way that takes away the soul of the writer or the story itself. My write up was one of the bubbly, take me away type of essay that I always write. It gives a glimpse of an author's life while putting in focus what the discussion is about. I have exchanged revised editions for like three times with the editor, and in the end, his was the one he published, to my chagrin. I felt awful with the grammar mistakes, it represented me because it has my name on it. I was being a mercenary for a little bit of fame, which was not even worth it. I have not been published for a long time because I have been lazy, unproductive, underachieved and name it, I just might have it. Well, this are one of those times that there is something out there that you did yet you do not want to acknowledge it.

So, in retaliation, we will be making our own magazine, one that is intellectual, witty, cheerful, inspirational and truly a boon for Filipinos in the UAE. Just wait and you will see. Filipinos are a lot better than you think, I am telling this also to those Filipinos who think they are not Filipinos. Move over man, or she-man. :-)

Oopsy..
