Fasting During the Holy Month of Ramadan

God wakes me up every 5:30 in the morning so I can drink water to quench my thirst.

I am not a Muslim but I fast during the Holy month of Ramadan. I have started fasting since I was twenty one years old. It began with my relationship with my classmates in my university (MSU-Marawi). Most of my classmates adhere the religion of Islam. They wear Abayas or head scarves.

Ever since I fast every Ramadan. It was primarily out of respect to my friends because I didn't have the guts to eat while knowing that they are fasting, then it became a ritual for me every year. It helps me purge myself emotionally, spiritually and physically. It helps me lose weight also. The first three days are the most difficult times because you can actually hear your tummy grumble and it makes you want to give up easily. But then, that is actuially part of the challenge.

Below I found very interesting links on fasting that are helpful to those who want to understand what it is about, be it Christian or Muslim.
